ZAMBEZI KULEFU CAMP

There is excitement in the air as we draw closer to the opening of our seasonal camp, Zambezi Kulefu. This secluded, intimate safari camp is situated deep in the game-rich lower Zambezi National Park and will open 24 June 2008, 15 November 2008 at the end of the season.

The camp has been totally rebuilt. The main area has been repositioned and elevated for guests to enjoy the breathtaking views of the lower Zambezi. The dining area boasts timber floors and a fully remodelled rim-flow swimming pool. The lounge area is finished with oversized furniture and the library and bar units have been fitted with a raised wooden deck.

Zambezi Kulefu Camp consists of 7 custom made tented rooms, with mahogany floors in the bedroom areas. Each tent is fitted with an indoor and outdoor shower with scalloped fences added to ensure privacy.

The tents consist of three layers to ensure a better heat management system which is enhanced by the addition of two ceiling fans in each of the rooms. In addition to the ability to run off back up batteries and solar energy, the camp has been outfitted with new silence packed generators.

The myriad of activities at the camp include:

Game viewing: Bird watching, stargazing including a wide range of animals.
Game drives: Professionally guided game viewing and night drives in open 4X4 vehicles
Walking Safaris: Informative walking safaris
Motorised boat: Exciting motorised boat excursions with fantastic fishing opportunities
Canoeing excursions: Serene canoeing activity on the lower Zambezi River

THE INSIDE TRACK

Dear A&K colleagues and sales directors

It’s a great pleasure to share with you, the new images of both Chichele Presidential Lodge and Sussi and Chuma. Your guests will be delighted while visiting Sanctuary Lodges & Camps Zambia after the completion of the USD 4 million refurbishment and upgrades within the portfolio.

Chichele Presidential Lodge

On the 10th December 2007 Chichele Presidential Lodge, located in the South Luangwa, overlooking the beautiful Luangwa valley opened. One of our recent guests commented “we were blown away by the service, great game viewing and very good food”.

This 10 roomed, luxury safari lodge is very well suited to the type of guest who wants the comfort of bricks and mortar structure. The rooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans, large en suite bathrooms, mosquito nets with views across the valley. The South Luangwa National Park, is an activity “haven”, enjoy game viewing, walking safaris, day and night game drives.

It would not be the same without a view and in keeping with the style of the rooms the
bathrooms are just as exquisite…

One of the new customised 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers out fitted with individual bucket seats, an easy access side and a cover over the vehicle to shade guests from the blazing African sun.

No lodge experience is complete without delicious food overseen by our food & beverage manager Donovan van Staden and expertly prepared by our resident chef Roy Kaputo

Remember that Chichele Presidential Lodge is open all year round!

Sussi & Chuma

This luxury lodge, located 10km from the Victoria Falls in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park reopened on the 10 April 2008, with the Chuma houses opening 16 April 2008. The new main area and rooms numbered 7 through 12 have been completed and are being used by our guests once more. Please keep in mind that these are not professional images but one gets an idea, of how fantastic the lodge looks.

At the front entrance, you are welcomed by Sussi & Chuma, the legends who carried David Livingstone’s body to Dar es Salaam. The lodge has undergone a major transformation with new game drive vehicle, motorised boats and airconditioned transfer vehicles and on completion we would have carried out 2.5km worth of new decking and walkways.

Same unbelievable location but very different lodge…

The main area offers a far better view for guests, due to the addition of spacious seating areas, new bar area and extended deck areas.

The downstairs area includes, indoor and outdoor private dining, extended deck areas all taking in the splendour of the mighty Zambezi River

The frequently asked question concerning Sussi & Chuma has been, “what will the rooms look like?” The old wooden tree houses have been redesigned with plastered walls, entirely refurbished with lighter more modern furnishings and re-modelled private deck areas.
